Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports List: Other Engines


On 09 June 2023, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced an update of the Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports List, and that goods classifiable under tariff subheading 8408.90.65 were no longer restricted. The details of the tariff subheading are:

SECTION XVI: MACHINERY AND MECHANICAL APPLIANCES; ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT; PARTS THEREOF; SOUND RECORDERS AND REPRODUCERS, TELEVISION IMAGE AND SOUND RECORDERS AND REPRODUCERS, AND PARTS AND ACCESSORIES OF SUCH ARTICLES

Chapter 84: NUCLEAR REACTORS, BOILERS, MACHINERY AND MECHANICAL APPLIANCES; PARTS THEREOF

Tariff Heading: 84.08 Compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines (diesel or semi-diesel engines):

Tariff Subheading: 8408.90 Other engines:

Tariff Subheading: 8408.90.65 Stationary engines, four-stroke, normally aspirated, of a cylinder capacity of 300 cm³ or more but less than 4 000 cm³ (excluding those identifiable for use solely or principally with road rollers).
