Greece’s Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) announced a new partnership with Ashdod Port Company, an Israeli government company that operates the largest port in Israel.

Thanos Liagkos, executive chairman of the Board of Directors and managing director of ThPA, and Shaul Schneider, chairman of Ashdod Port Company, led by Eli Bar Yossef, acting CEO of Ashdod Port Company, Spyros Nikolaou, director of ICT and Digital Transformation of ThPA, and Roy Avrahami, chief innovation officer of Ashdod Port Company, signed the relevant agreement.

The new cooperation focusses on innovation, with emphasis on the areas of cybersecurity and operational efficiency. Both parties are expected to undertake joint initiatives, aiming to respond to issues related to sustainability, which concern the broader port and maritime transport sector.

In addition, the agreement provides for the joint implementation of networking activities, participation in international projects and the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

The deal signed between ThPA and Ashdod Port Company establishes a regional collaboration between two of the most important ports in the wider Mediterranean area, while also enhancing bilateral connections between Greece and Israel.
