Following recent significant congestion at Mersin port in Turkiye, which is not likely to ease soon, CMA CGM announced that its NC Levant Express service will no longer visit Mersin port until further notice.

“Above decision is taken to keep and maintain the schedule reliability and service integrity of NC Levant Express which is heavily impacted by the average two weeks congestion in Mersin,” noted the French ocean carrier in a statement.

When the situation improves, CMA CGM said it will reactivate the Port of Iskenderun call on the NC Levant Express route and return to Mersin.

CMA CGM will deploy a shuttle service “Egypt-Mersin” to serve the North European and Mersin markets, connecting cargo from North Europe to Mersin and Mersin to North Europe via transshipment in Port Said West.

New routing for Mersin – North Europe will be as follows:

– North Europe <->Port Said West leg with NC Levant Express service

– Port Said West <-> Mersin leg with Shuttle service

“Above contingency plans are made with the aim of improving the schedule reliability of NC Levant Express service,” noted CMA CGM.
