CMA CGM has announced a new port congestion surcharge (PCS) of US$150 per TEU at the Algerian ports of Oran, Alger, and Bejaia. This fee will take effect on 15 July and will apply to dry, out-of-gauge, hazardous, reefer, and special cargo.

The French carrier is applying the PCS because the operating situation in Oran, Alger, and Bejaia in Algeria has been deteriorating for the past several weeks, with no positive perspective in the next weeks.

CMA CGM will apply the Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) from ports in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Middle East Gulf, and the Red Sea to the aforementioned Algerian ports.

According to the company, any change in the amount of this surcharge due to changes in local circumstances will be conveyed with a seven-day notice.
